GUIDE / M3U / XTREAM CODES

How to set up an M3U or Xtream provider.

TellyboxTV needs a provider connection you are authorised to use. This guide covers the details to collect, the difference between M3U and Xtream, and how to get past a failed connection check without guessing.

No playlist or provider account is included. Use your own authorised service.

What you need

Ask your provider for the connection details. Do not use a link or login from a friend, a forum or a reseller unless they are authorised to provide it to you.

Choose M3U or Xtream

Use M3U when your provider gives you a single playlist link and you do not have Xtream credentials. It is the simplest option, but guide and on-demand data may be limited.

Use Xtream when your provider gives you a server, username and password. It is usually the better experience because live categories, guide data, films and series can be imported together.

If your provider offers both, try Xtream first. Keep the M3U link as a fallback if the Xtream login does not work.

Add the connection

  1. Open the provider screen.

In the phone app or the website account, choose to add a provider. If you already have one saved, edit it instead of creating a duplicate.

  2. Pick the connection type.

Choose M3U or Xtream. Paste the link or enter the server, username and password exactly as supplied.

  3. Leave HTTP off unless you need it.

HTTPS is the safer default. Only allow HTTP if the provider requires it and you understand that the connection is not encrypted.

  4. Run the connection check.

Fix any error before saving. A successful check does not guarantee every stream will play, but it catches most address and credential mistakes.

  5. Save and let the catalogue import.

The import may take a little while. After it finishes, hide the categories you do not want and add your favourites.

Provider details are encrypted in the browser before they are saved. The account service stores the encrypted document rather than a plaintext provider password.

Common connection errors

The link has expired or returns an error

Ask your provider to reissue the M3U link. Some providers rotate links when a password changes or a subscription is renewed.

The username or password is rejected

Check for extra spaces, a changed password or a typo in the server address. Copy the details rather than retyping them where possible.

The provider says the connection limit is reached

Your provider may count the connection check as a stream or see another device using the account. Close other players, wait a moment and try again.

The address is unreachable from my network

Your ISP, workplace or mobile network may block the address, or the provider may be offline. Try another network before changing the app. TellyRelay may help in some cases, but it cannot fix an overloaded or consistently broken source.

Only part of the catalogue appears

Your provider may not expose every category through that connection type, or the import may still be running. Compare the M3U and Xtream options if both are available.

Keep the details private

Your provider credentials are valuable. Do not post them in screenshots, support threads or social media. If you share a screenshot of the app, crop out any playlist URL, username, server address or provider name.

TellyboxTV does not need your provider password for normal account access, but the optional relay does need to use the credentials to request a stream. Only enable the relay if you understand that trade-off.

Ready to tidy the list?

Once the provider is connected, hide the categories you never watch and group duplicate sources. The free Solo plan is enough to try it on one device.
