GUIDE / ANDROID TV / GOOGLE TV

How to install an IPTV player on Android TV.

This walkthrough covers the TellyboxTV alpha on a compatible Android TV or Google TV device. It includes the two installation methods, account linking, adding your provider and the fixes for the usual sticking points.

TellyboxTV does not supply channels. Use your own authorised provider.

Before you start

You do not need a paid TellyboxTV plan to install the app. Solo is free with one registered device and no ads. Duo and Family add registered device slots later.

Method 1: install with Downloader

This is the simplest route if you are comfortable typing a short address with the TV remote.

  1. Install Downloader on the TV.

Open the TV's Play Store, search for Downloader by AFTVnews and install it.

  2. Open Downloader and enter the address.

Type app.tellyboxapp.com/tv exactly, then choose Go. The download should start automatically.

  3. Allow the installation.

If Android blocks it, open the prompt to allow Downloader to install unknown apps. Return to Downloader, select Install, then Open.

  4. Turn the permission back off.

Once the app is installed, you can remove Downloader's install permission. You do not need to leave it enabled.

If you prefer, the download address can be copied from the official install page and sent to the TV.

Method 2: install from your phone

This method uses Android wireless debugging. It avoids typing on the TV, but the menus vary between manufacturers.

  1. Enable Developer options on the TV.

Open Settings, then About, and tap the build number until Developer options unlocks. The exact path depends on the TV.

  2. Open Wireless debugging.

In Developer options, enable Wireless debugging and choose the option to pair with a code.

  3. Find the TV from the phone.

In the signed-in TellyboxTV phone app, open Settings, App, Install on a TV, then Find a TV. Select the TV and enter the pairing code.

  4. Install and open.

Let the phone send the latest TV app. Approve the install on the TV if asked, then open TellyboxTV.

When you are finished, turn Wireless debugging off again. It is not needed for normal viewing.

Open TellyboxTV on the TV and choose the linking option. The TV shows a short code. On your signed-in phone, open Settings, App, Link a TV or phone, enter the code and approve the link.

The TV is now a registered device on your account. If you reach your plan's device limit, unlink an old device first. Device allowances are registered devices, not simultaneous streams.

Add your provider

If your provider is not already saved, add it from the phone or the TV. Use an M3U playlist link or Xtream Codes details. TellyboxTV checks the connection before saving it and encrypts the provider details in the browser.

For the exact fields and common error messages, read the M3U and Xtream setup guide.

Common installation problems

The TV says the APK cannot be installed

Allow the browser or Downloader to install unknown apps, then retry. If the file downloaded incompletely, delete it and download it again.

My phone cannot find the TV

Check that both are on the same Wi-Fi network and that Wireless debugging is on. If discovery still fails, use the Downloader method instead.

The app opens but the provider fails

Check the provider address, username and password. Your provider may have a connection limit or may not accept the network you are on. Ask the provider before changing advanced settings.

Should I enable HTTP for my provider?

Only if your provider genuinely requires it and you understand that HTTP is not encrypted. Prefer HTTPS whenever the provider supports it.

Installed? Now make the list yours.

Hide the categories you never watch, group duplicate sources and put your favourites first. The free Solo account is enough to try it.
